How to Compare Ingredients Using the Ingredient Comparison Report

The Ingredient Comparison report allows you to compare different ingredients side-by-side. This is especially useful when you want to evaluate custom ingredients against ingredients in the Food Label Maker database.

By comparing ingredients, you can better understand nutritional differences and make more informed decisions when formulating recipes or creating nutrition labels.


Benefits of the Ingredient Comparison Report

Using the Ingredient Comparison report helps you:

  • Evaluate ingredient alternatives before adding them to a recipe.

  • Compare nutritional values such as calories, macros, and micronutrients.

  • Review allergen information across ingredients.

  • Analyze supplier information and costs (when available).

  • Validate custom ingredient data by comparing it to database ingredients.

This makes it easier to optimize recipes and ensure accurate nutrition labeling.


How to Access the Ingredient Comparison Report

To open the Ingredient Comparison feature:

  1. Go to Custom Reports in the main menu.

  2. Click Ingredient Comparison.


How to Compare Ingredients

  1. Open the Ingredient Comparison report.

  2. Select up to three ingredients to compare.

  3. Ingredients can be selected from:

  • The Food Label Maker ingredient database

  • Your custom ingredients

  1. Add the ingredients to the comparison view.

Once selected, the report will display a side-by-side comparison including:

  • Calories

  • Macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, fat)

  • Vitamins and minerals

  • Allergen information

  • Supplier information (if available)

  • Ingredient cost (if available)


The Ingredient Comparison report allows you to quickly evaluate ingredient differences and ensure you are selecting the most appropriate ingredient for your recipes and labeling needs.
