Manually entering nutritional data for every ingredient can be time-consuming, especially when you already have the information on a spec sheet or nutrition label. Food Label Maker's AI Parsing Tool lets you upload that document and have the data extracted and filled in automatically.
The tool accepts PDF and PNG file formats and can parse general information, full nutritional breakdowns, allergen declarations, and sub-ingredient lists from a single upload.
How to Add an Ingredient Using the AI Parsing Tool
In your recipe or ingredient library, click Add New Ingredient
Select the AI Parsing Tool option
Upload your ingredient spec sheet or nutrition label (PDF or PNG format)
Choose the file from your computer and wait for the upload to complete
Once the upload finishes, the AI will automatically parse the document and populate the corresponding fields with the extracted data. This includes general ingredient information, nutritional values, allergens, and sub-ingredients.
Review and Complete the Data
After the AI fills in the parsed data, review the fields to make sure everything looks correct. In some cases, you may need to fill out remaining fields that the AI could not extract from the document, such as cost per unit or supplier details.
The parsed values are fully editable, so you can adjust any field before saving the ingredient.
Supported File Formats
The AI Parsing Tool currently supports:
PDF files (spec sheets, certificates of analysis, nutrition panels)
PNG image files (photos of nutrition labels, scanned documents)
For best results, make sure the uploaded document is legible and that the nutritional information is clearly displayed.
