Keeping track of allergens across a recipe with multiple ingredients can be difficult, especially when some allergens are buried inside sub-ingredients. The Ingredient and Allergen Breakdown feature in Food Label Maker gives you a single table view that maps every ingredient in your recipe to its associated allergens, so you can spot potential issues at a glance.
This is particularly useful when reviewing recipes before finalizing your label, onboarding new products, or responding to allergen-related questions from retailers and co-packers.
How to Access the Ingredient and Allergen Breakdown
Open your recipe
Navigate to the Nutrition Breakdown tab
You will see a detailed table listing all ingredients in your recipe along with any allergens associated with each one
The table provides a clear, line-by-line view that makes it easy to identify which ingredients carry which allergens, helping you verify that your allergen declaration is accurate before downloading your label.
What the Table Shows
The breakdown table displays:
Each ingredient in your recipe
The allergens linked to that ingredient (such as milk, wheat, soy, tree nuts, etc.)
If an ingredient has no associated allergens, it will still appear in the table with no allergens listed, giving you full visibility into every component of your recipe.
Why This Matters for Compliance
Accurate allergen declarations are one of the most common areas where labels get flagged during retail review or FDA inspection. Missing or incorrect allergen information can lead to product recalls. The Ingredient and Allergen Breakdown gives you a built-in audit step so you can catch errors before they reach the shelf.
