How to Use the AI RACC Check for Recommended Serving Sizes

Learn how Food Label Maker's AI assistant analyzes your recipe and suggests the correct serving size based on FDA RACC categories.

Choosing the right serving size for your product is a critical compliance step. The FDA requires that serving sizes be based on Reference Amounts Customarily Consumed (RACC), which are standardized amounts set for different food categories. Getting this wrong can result in inaccurate nutrient values across your entire label.

Food Label Maker's AI RACC Check feature takes the guesswork out of this process. After you build your recipe, the AI assistant R.I.A. analyzes your ingredients and recommends the appropriate RACC category and serving size for your product.

How to Use the AI RACC Check

  1. Open your recipe and add all your ingredients in the Recipe Builder

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Recipe Builder section and find the AI RACC Check feature

  3. Click the button to run the check

  4. R.I.A. will analyze your recipe and display the recommended RACC category along with the suggested serving size

  5. If the recommendation looks correct, click to replace your current serving size with the AI's suggestion

The serving size on your label will update automatically once you accept the recommendation.

When to Use This Feature

The AI RACC Check is especially helpful when you are unsure which RACC category your product falls into, when you are launching a new product and need to set the serving size for the first time, or when you want to double-check that an existing serving size is still aligned with FDA requirements.

Keep in mind that the AI recommendation is based on the ingredients and product type it detects from your recipe. You should always verify the suggestion against the FDA's RACC table if your product could fall into more than one category.
