Learn how to set up a new supplement formula, add your ingredients, and manage active cultures, overages, and moisture loss.
Overview
Building a formula is where your ingredients come together. Our intelligent Formula Builder automatically calculates complex values like overages and moisture loss, making it easy to create accurate, compliant recipes.
Step 1: Initial Formula Setup
Before entering the builder, you need to set up the basic identity of your formula:
Click on Formula in the left-hand toolbar.
Click the Create Formula button.
Fill out the initial setup details:
Formula Name
Code (your internal SKU or reference identifier)
Category (e.g., Botanical, Vitamins, Mineral, Protein Powder, Herb, etc.)
Serving Size Details
Click next to move forward into the Formula Builder page.

Step 3: Handle Overages, Moisture Loss, and Advanced Components
Our platform handles the math for you, but you need to specify the parameters:
Overages & Moisture Loss: If your ingredient requires an overage or will experience moisture loss during manufacturing, enter those percentages here. The platform will automatically calculate and adjust the final values for you.
Active Cultures & Chemical Impurities: If you need to view or add active cultures or tracking for chemical impurities, click More in the top right-hand corner of the builder and select them from the dropdown menu to display them in your workspace.
Tip for Users: Make sure you've already added any custom ingredients or components to your library before building your formula so they easily show up in the search tab! You can always add more ingredients directly from the formula builder page by clicking on the "Add new ingredient" link at the bottom
