How to Add Ingredients in our Supplement Formulation Software

Learn how to create and manage the ingredients used to build your supplement formulas, including nutritional info, allergens, and costs.

What is an Ingredient?

Ingredients are the building blocks of your supplement formulas. In our software, ingredients are divided into active ingredients, inactive ingredients, and chemical impurities.

  • Active Ingredients: Components that contribute directly to the function of the supplement. These will generally appear on your product label.

  • Inactive Ingredients: Binders, fillers, and fibers that help support the supplement's form or delivery.

  • Chemical Impurities: Elements like lead, mercury, or cadmium. Adding these helps track safety, but they will not appear on the final product label.

Steps to Add a New Ingredient

Once you save a custom ingredient, it will be securely stored in your library so you can use it in any future formula.

  1. Go to the left-hand toolbar and click on Ingredients.

  2. Click the Add Ingredient button.

  3. Fill out the General Info for the ingredient.

  4. Enter the Nutritional Info (such as calories, carbs, protein, fat, etc.).

  5. Specify the Active and Inactive Ingredients, as well as any Chemical Impurities if applicable.

  6. Add Additional Properties if needed, such as organic percentages or herbal properties.

  7. Input any Allergens and Cost details, if applicable.

  8. Click Save.

Your new ingredient is now ready to be added to your formulas!
