What does recipe yield mean? When should I manually edit it?

Recipe yield is the final amount of food after cooking. Adjust it for moisture loss to update serving size, not nutrition values

What Is Recipe Yield?

Recipe yield refers to the final amount of food produced after preparing a recipe. It can be expressed in weight (grams, ounces), volume (liters, fluid ounces), or servings. For example:

  • A cookie recipe might yield 500g or 24 cookies.

  • A soup recipe might yield 16 fl oz or 6 servings.

When Should I Manually Adjust Recipe Yield?

You may need to manually adjust recipe yield when accounting for moisture loss due to:
✔️ Cooking
✔️ Drying
✔️ Freezing

Editing the recipe yield only updates the Serving Size on your nutrition label to reflect the correct package weight. It does not impact nutrition calculations, as nutrient values remain the same.
